Thank you Lord for what you’ve taught me

Thanks for the trials and where they’ve brought me

Thank you for teaching me that your ways are best

For keeping me safe and keeping me blessed

Sometimes I wonder how you keep loving me

For when everything’s good I’m happy and free

I often forget when things are so good

To praise you and thank you when I know that I should

But when the way gets rocky and filled with despair

I question your love and think you don’t care

I sink into pity and fill up with doubt

And imagine the worst, that there is no way out

It always takes time for my eyes to see

That you’re in control regardless the situation be

If I could just learn and pound into my head

To praise you and thank you for good times and bad

To look straight ahead and follow your pace

To give you control and stay in my place
